New York Baroque Incorporated joins The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys once again by for the wonderful and under-performed ‘stile galant’ oratorio by J. S. Bach’s illustrious son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Die letzten Leiden des Erlösers (The Last Sufferings of Christ) was first performed in 1770, and was performed in C.P.E. Reflecting the life of Jean-Baptiste Lully, godfather of French opera, New York Baroque Incorporated debuts at the Miller Theater with a program shaped by the style, structure, and spectacle of his music as well as his multicultural upbringing. Led by Richard Egarr, NYBI presents a joyous evening of Johann Sebastian Bach; his Brandenburg Concertos No. 5 and 6, featuring a crazed harpsichordist and solos for underdog instruments, and massively fun dance suites for the whole orchestra!
